Personalities

Over the course of a millennium, the destinies of hundreds of prominent figures — patrons, benefactors, and cultural leaders — have been linked to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Petro Mohyla revived the Lavra as a spiritual and cultural center, Ukrainian Baroque flourished at the shrine with the support of Ivan Mazepa, and the Ostrozky princes gave it a printing house and supported the monastery during the struggle for the Orthodox faith. This section is about the people thanks to whom the Lavra became what it is today.
