American blogger Laura Loomer visited the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra National Reserve to see with her own eyes the consequences of the Russian attack on Ukrainian cultural heritage.
The visit to the Lavra took place during her trip to Ukraine. Previously, Laura Loomer publicly admitted that her previous views on our country were formed under the influence of Russian propaganda. According to the blogger, she came to learn the truth about the crimes of the Russian occupiers and share it with her audience.
Laura Lumer was met at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra by Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy – Minister of Culture of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna, First Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsia, and Director General of the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” Maksym Ostapenko. They showed the guests the sights of the Upper Lavra. At the beginning of the route, Laura Lumer inspected the Ivan Kushnyk Tower and the building of the Mystsky Arsenal. She was told about the damage suffered by the shrines of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as a result of the Russian attack on June 15.
The influencer also visited the Assumption Cathedral and saw the site of the Russian strike drone strike. During the attack, the church lost more than 80% of its roof, and a total of 19 objects were damaged on the territory of the National Reserve.
The blogger learned about the emergency response work carried out to save the cathedral and the preparation of the monument for the next stage – conservation. She also viewed a tablet exhibition dedicated to the history of the destruction and revival of the Assumption Cathedral.
During her visit, Laura Lumer visited the Refectory Church, an observation deck with a view of the Dnieper River and the historic part of Kyiv, as well as the “Revived Universe” exhibition. There, guests presented restored relics from the National Reserve’s fund collection.
The visit to the Lavra was part of Laura Loomer’s introduction to Ukraine and the consequences of Russian aggression. Such visits allow foreign guests to see the real scale of the destruction and contrast what they have personally seen with Russian disinformation, IPSO, and propaganda.
